Review: Barrelling Forward

There’s a point in the story “Auditioning”, from Eva Crocker’s debut collection Barrelling Forward, when twin sisters Sandra and Rochelle fly from St. John’s to Toronto to audition for a Tupperware commercial. Their enthusiastic agent warns the teens in advance that, while the market for twin models is limited, they’re in a good position to exploit that niche, at least for a short while.

“You look great right now, you’re exactly what people are looking for — but you’re at an age where bodies fluctuate and it’s a good idea to get used to keeping control of it, if you’re planning for a life in the industry.”
